About Jill McKeever

Since 2007, I have been dishing out comfort meals, recipes, and cookbooks with the intention to lift the spirit and ease the mind. I'm all about practical methods, good food, and watching my family's faces melt with joy when they eat my cooking.

In 2019, I began a hellish marathon from peri-menopause to menopause.  The transition was hard, slow, and held me in a state of depression and anxiety. I learned to use art and craft making to help me express my turbulent feelings and finds moments of peace and joy. By showing up everyday to learn art techniques, explore art mediums, and create beautiful and ugly pieces, I made my way through the darkness and back up into the light. I still have dark days, but I'm okay. I have the understanding support of my family and a studio full of art supplies to see me through the temporary storms.

SO NOW, THESE DAYS, I follow two creative ambitions: Cooking and Art Making

COOKING: I utilize my 40+ years of culinary wisdom and experience to explore, develop, and write recipes worth their time and effort. Through this website, my YouTube channel, and membership to my Old School Recipe Club, people continue to find inspiration and a sense of relief from the stresses of preparing meals day after day. Plus the meals and desserts I dish out hit the spot for just about every kind of eater, even the picky ones.

ART MAKING: Most of the things I make are commissions from the wonderful people who wish to simply support me and connect to joyful character in my work. I do not specialize in one art medium. I'm a natural artist with the ability to express joy and fun through the following:

  • sculpting with polymer clay (miniature food, earrings, charms, desk mates, and magnets, so far)
  • plaster casting
  • canvas and paper painting with watercolors, acrylics, and gouache
  • fabric painting on aprons, t-shirts, and tea towels
  • card making with watercolors, acrylics, gouache, inks
  • sketchbook and journal binding
