About Jill McKeever
"At the end of my life, I can't imagine I'll regret the moments when I said, 'Fuck it, I'm gonna have fun!'"
Jill was born to spread joy, learn how to live abundantly while respecting the environment, and share all that is useful and beautiful with others. She is a highly creative person with various curiosities and interests. She has no problem talking to complete strangers about anything anywhere or talking to the squirrels and bluejays in her backyard. She is smart, funny, and the most down to earth person you'll ever meet. Her favorite activities are crafting, cooking, caring for plants, and attracting wildlife.
Jill believes it's essential for our well-being to make stuff with our hands, play in the dirt, learn a song, commune with nature. Make a mess. Make noise. See what happens. Feel what happens. It's life changing.
On JillMcKeever.com, the Cooking Wise blog covers the wits and wisdom of cooking with practical techniques without sacrificing flavor and comforts we all enjoy. Whether you're cooking for yourself or a family, Jill has been through all the stages of life preparing delicious, satisfying meals. She knows her stuff because she has been cooking since 1983, and a plant based Youtube sensation since 2011. Her plant based cookbooks have helped thousands of thousands. You can find her cookbooks here and on Amazon. Ask her anything.
On JillMcKeever.com, the Garden blog encourages readers to create opportunities for enjoying nature's gifts with tips for plant care and gardening, attracting wildlife and beneficial insects. Jill earned a Bachelor of Science in Horticultural and Plant Sciences, in 2000, from Tarleton State University. Upon graduation, she began her career as a freelance landscape designer for homeowners and landscape businesses. This choice gave her the opportunity to master her skills with the freedom of working from home while raising her two wonderful kids.
In 2018, Jill began the tumultuous life transformation from peri menopause to menopause. This was a doozy for her. Years of amped anxiety and deep depression. Until one day, the simple curiosity of making dot art led her to a blissful discovery: make time to focus on creating anything with our hands and it will give you a peace and stillness in the mind. She was changed forever.
Since then, she makes time just about everyday to create anything. How long she takes doesn't actually matter. There are no rules or conditions. Ten minutes or one hour, both create a stirring of joy in the chest and a sensation of peace washing over the mind.
On JillMcKeever.com, Crafting for Joy covers different ways we can take time for ourselves, make stuff, then choose whether we want to hang or display our creation or not, or simply create for the joy of passing along joy to someone we care about. Again, no rules, no conditions, simply crafting for joy.
